LIGO Heatmap
Heatmapping script for LIGO
When I was working with LIGO, through Ansel Neunzert as my mentor, during my senior year of university, the problem I was presented with was that the researchers would consistently have high pockets of noise in their auxiliary sensors. A previous undergraduate had worked on the problem and created a sample script that could possibly highlight where the noise was coming from, but had since graduated and stopped working on the project. I created my script from scratch, with help from Ansel, specifically to create a heatmap of every sensor's data within certain parameters, which could then be used to pinpoint potential problem sources. Over the course of the year I ended up creating a simple but rather straightforward script that pulls the sensor data from either a single day or a range of dates, checks if the data exists, then parses, cleans, and filters the data down to within a certain coherence range, and finally puts all of that into a heatmap with the channel names and frequency combs.
